Thinking of working in Aged Care? Meet our Student Feature Gina, recent graduate who studied the Certificate III in Individual Support.

Get to know Gina’s story and experience studying at FYI Education & Training.

“I grew with in an Italian background so that is my first language. I only started English in high school. I also just moved here 3 years ago from Italy. I love Australia because people are always helping each other. I want my kids to have the chance to grow up in this beautiful country.” - Gina

What made you start studying?

“After recently coming to Australia a job provider suggested I get my resume done &  suggested I look into the aged care industry because of opportunities. I chose FYI because it was close to me when I did a search and it has been great.”

The best parts about studying at FYI?

“For me it was an amazing experience. Since the start with Maree who helped me with my enrolment. She gave me a good description of what my job opportunities would be after having my Certificate III in Individual Support. But my trainer Colleen was the diamond.  She is so experienced and passionate. When she is teaching you can feel the passion. And she gave us all the clues to become those who we can to make a difference for people.”

What advice do you have for other students?

“If you want to make a difference in this world, become a carer. Do a Certificate III in Individual Support. The world needs careers, good carers. Not just going for the wrong reasons. This industry is different than others. You are dealing with people, the elderly and they are more frail & need sun in their life.”

Career Goals:

“At this stage I am excited to get into caring.”

Gina has a role lined up once she has graduated and we are so proud of her.

What are you passionate about?

“Everything I can do for people and everyone. I wish I could change this world.”

We think Gina is changing this world with one step and day at a time. We are proud of Gina & hope her story inspires you to follow your passion and seize opportunities.

From the FYI team we are proud of your journey and thank you for sharing your experience.
