  • Start with reflections, make sure you reflect on the above points in detail and don’t be shy to your own biggest dreams

  • Put your plan in writing so you can reflect as they may change with time, evolving your plan is critical as life changes and so would your goals

  • Decide on SMART career goals, don’t just set unrealistic goals without being smart about it;

  • SMART = Specific, Measurable, Achievable and Timely

  • Example of a SMART Goal: “I would like to work as a Childcare Manager within the next 5 years”.

  • Shortlist desired jobs or companies that align with your plan

  • Consult a career expert or expert in the field

  • Look at what qualifications you need to turn your plan into action
