Doug

Doug

Disability Trainer/Assessor

I began my career in Disability in 2009 with the Department of Health and Human Services where I was employed as a casual Disability Support Worker working the DAS (Disability Accommodation Services) area. I gravitated towards clients with Behaviours of concern and remained in that environment for many years.

Within 12 months I became contracted to a house as a part time employee. During this time, I enrolled at Holmesglen TAFE where I completed my Cert IV in Disability.

Over the next 4 years I gained sufficient knowledge and experience to become the House Supervisor in a complex Group Home and during this time I attained my Advanced Diploma in Disability.

After 4 years as House Supervisor, I was offered the opportunity as an Induction Trainer for the DHHS’s new employees around Melbourne and country Victoria.

In this first year, I studied and received my Certificate in Training and Assessment TAE40116. After 2 years of Induction Training, I transitioned to Cert IV in Disability Training delivery.

To maintain my professional currency, I continue to be employed as a casual Disability Support Worker and thoroughly enjoy my role.
